What We Build

Railings That Make a Space Safer Without Making It Feel Closed In

A railing has two jobs at once. It has to hold up to real force and keep people from falling — and it has to look like it belongs in the room. Most of the calls we get are from homeowners who need the first part solved but are worried the result will look industrial or block the light. That is exactly the problem we are good at.

We fabricate every railing in our own Ventura shop rather than ordering stock parts, so the proportions, picket spacing, and finish are chosen for your space instead of pulled from a catalog.

Interior Safety

Safety Guardrails for Stairwells, Lofts & Pony Walls

Open stairwell edges, loft openings, and low pony walls are a common hazard in Ventura County homes — especially in older houses and open-plan remodels where a half-wall overlooks a stairway drop. We add a guardrail that removes the danger without walling off the view.

  • Guardrails on top of existing pony walls & half-walls
  • Open stairwell & landing edge protection
  • Loft & mezzanine edge guardrails
  • Anchored securely into existing framing or masonry
  • Built to current California Residential Code

Interior & Exterior Stair Railings

Straight-Run Stair Railings

Clean, well-proportioned railings for standard staircases — the most common project we build, and the one where picket spacing and handrail profile make the biggest visual difference.

Curved interior staircase railing with horizontal bars following the stair radius, with a matching landing guardrail above

Curved & Spiral Staircases

Curved runs are measured and templated on site, then formed in the shop so the handrail flows continuously instead of breaking into flat segments.

Glass, Cable & Modern Infill

When the priority is keeping sightlines open, glass panels and tensioned stainless cable preserve the view while still meeting guardrail requirements.

Multi-Level & Landing Guardrails

Staircases that run through several floors need the railing, landing guardrails, and any open-edge protection to read as one continuous piece rather than separate add-ons.

Exterior & Entry Steps

Front-step and porch railings finished to stand up to coastal air — galvanized or powder-coated to resist the salt exposure common along the Ventura and Oxnard coast.

ADA-Compliant Handrails

Graspable handrails with compliant returns and mounting heights for commercial properties, rentals, and accessible residential remodels.

Outdoor Living

Balcony, Deck & Patio Railings

Whether you want the view preserved or the space enclosed, the infill style does most of the work. We build in the full range so the railing suits the setting rather than the other way around.

  • Juliet balconies & balcony enclosures
  • Stainless cable railing for unobstructed views
  • Glass-panel railings
  • Ornamental wrought iron & scrollwork
  • Powder-coated, galvanized, or patina finishes

Common Questions

Railing & Guardrail FAQs

Can you add a safety railing to an open stairwell or loft edge?

Yes. Open stairwell edges, loft openings, and low pony walls are some of the most common safety railing jobs we do. We measure the opening, design a guardrail that suits the room, fabricate it in our Ventura shop, and install it so it anchors securely into the existing structure.

Do you build railings to meet California building code?

Yes. We build guardrails and handrails to current California Residential Code requirements for height, infill spacing, and load resistance, and we can coordinate with your building department when a permit or inspection is required. We confirm the applicable requirements for your specific opening before fabrication.

How much does a custom iron stair railing cost?

Cost depends on the length of the run, the design complexity, the material, and the finish. A short straight guardrail is considerably less than a curved staircase railing with ornamental scrollwork. We provide a free on-site consultation and a written estimate so you know the price before any work begins.

How long does a railing project take?

Most residential railing projects run a few weeks from approved design to installation, depending on our current schedule and the finish selected. Because we fabricate in our own Ventura workshop rather than ordering from a supplier, we can often move faster than shops that subcontract their metalwork.

Can you match a railing to my existing ironwork?

Usually, yes. We can replicate picket profiles, scroll patterns, and finishes to match existing railings, gates, or window guards so an addition does not look like an afterthought. Send us photos and we will tell you what is achievable.
